GoIndustry DoveBid has some interesting items up for auction in its monthly warehouse auction in October, ranging from an antique Koch Columbia barber chair to a submarine.
GoIndustry’s warehouse manager, Jan Eksteen, says there are other vintage items to be featured on the auction, including a vinyl record player, a vintage Singer sewing machine, and an F E Roskopf pocket watch.
Household contents, vehicles and catering equipment will also be available. October will further bring an online auction of a one-of-a-kind item: a Taurus submarine.
Casper Rossouw, auctioneer and sales rep at GoIndustry, says the six-person vessel, built in Canada by one of the world’s leading submarine manufacturers, was designed to conduct a wide range of underwater tasks.
“It was built to operate at a depth of up to 1 200ft (365m) and has been involved in one-atmosphere operations, diver lockouts, dry transfers, submarine rescues and trial (by the Royal Navy), and research missions.
“It was also used for educational tourism in the famous waters of the Loch Ness, Scotland, and underwater filming of documentary and television projects.”
The warehouse auction will be held at the GoIndustry premises, 10 Evelyn Road, Retreat, at 10am on October 12.
The online auction of the Taurus submarine will open at 10am on Wednesday and will close at 2pm on October 11.
