If you are looking to buy or sell a property, the process remains the same with a few additional precautions, says Knight Frank’s Lisa Connellan.
“You can absolutely transact under level 3 but have a very open and frank conversation with your agent so that you feel that every precaution is being taken to ensure your safety over this period.”
Buyers and sellers need to contact the relevant agent and “leave the rest up to them”, says Arnold Maritz of Lew Geffen Sotheby’s. They will make the appointments and arrange for private viewings.
“Our agents have all the necessary client assessment questionnaires and indemnity documentation for both buyer and seller to complete and will follow strict safety guidelines during the viewing of properties.
“All our agents are briefed and equipped with personal protective equipment (PPE) to safely operate under level 3 and will conduct all viewings in accordance with (internal and external Covid-19 policies and procedures).”
Should the risk status of any party involved in an upcoming viewing change after the appointment was arranged it might be necessary to postpone appointments, he says.
Rawson’s Tony Clarke says the group will not be offering show houses at this time and will only take one set of qualified buyers or tenants through to view properties.
“Certain activities like home inspections, however, can only be done in person, with appropriate social distancing procedures and PPE in place.”
He adds: “We have certain expectations from our clients and staff when it comes to physical meetings, property viewings and inspections. “Our agents will disclose the safety protocols to clients and homeowners and obtain written agreements.”
Stringent protocols to ensure everyone’s safety are also in place at Greeff, says the agency’s Mike Greeff. “Temperatures are being checked, questionnaires are being answered and social distancing is being practised.
“This is the new normal for the foreseeable future and we are doing our best to adapt.” Although agents are able to meet clients on a one-on-one basis, while maintaining safety regulations and practising social distancing, virtual meetings are encouraged to avoid this contact.
