High fashion creations by iconic designers that were owned and worn by the legendary actress Olivia de Havilland will be the major attraction at Hindman auction house’s Haute Couture and Luxury Fall Fashion auction in Chicago on September 17.

De Havilland, who turned 103 in July, is the oldest living Oscar winner, having won a best actress award for To Each His Own (1946) and for The Heiress (1949).

Her clothing to be auctioned spans three decades and includes ensembles designed by Christian Dior, Yves Saint Laurent and Marc Bohan.

Bohan’s green chiffon dress with an inner corset and matching shoes worn by De Havilland in the cult horror movie, Hush Hush, Sweet Charlotte, co-starring Bette Davis, is expected to fetch up to $1800 (about R26000).

Also on auction are two ensembles loosely connected to Gone with the Wind: a 1961 dress De Havilland wore for commemorative events in Atlanta and another from 1967.
