A property featured in the Digest of South African Architecture (2014), in the Ca’Asi Young Architects in Africa exhibition at the Venice Biennale, and on the Inhabitat blog, will be auctioned by Rawson Auctions Western Cape on September 25.
Kleinwingerd, which means “small vineyard” in Afrikaans, is a weekend house and architectural masterpiece on the edge of Prince Alfred Hamlet, says Tanya Jovanovski, franchisee of Rawson Auctions Western Cape.
Situated at 30 Church Street, Prince Alfred Hamlet, the 1126m² property includes a SAWIS-registered vineyard comprising 450 vines, says Jovanovski.
The main house includes two bedrooms, one-and-a-half bathrooms, lounge with fireplace and a kitchen. There is also a garden with its own irrigation system, one covered parking bay and two open parking spots.
In Jovanovski’s view, the property would be ideal for “a small-scale, ‘garagiste’ winemaker.”
The auction will be by silent tender, with written offers to be submitted in sealed envelopes. Tenders will close at noon on September 25. The reserve price is R2.45million, but all offers will be considered.
No registration fee is required to bid. However, the buyer will be expected to pay a deposit of 5% of the purchase price, and also 10% commission plus VAT over and above the purchase price on the seller’s acceptance of the bid.
Bidders are required to be registered and must have with them certified copies of their identity documents and proof of residence.
All offers must be submitted on Rawson Auctions’ Offer to Purchase form. A copy can be obtained by contacting Rawson Auctions Western Cape office at email@example.com or on 0218371700. Bids can be delivered to Rawson Property Group, 222 Main Road, Rondebosch, Cape Town.
