R1m for four-day holiday let in Clifton

Booking required two luxury homes in one of the most expensive residential streets in the country to accommodate the international travellers.

Dogon Group Properties broke all their previous rental records for high-end holiday lets in Cape Town with a single rental last week of just under R1 million for four nights on the Atlantic seaboard.

The booking, which required two luxury homes in Clifton – in one of the most expensive residential streets in South Africa (Nettleton Road) – to accommodate a group of international travellers, cost a total of R960 000. The two villas achieved rentals of R130 000 and R110 000 respectively a night in winter, which is low season, says Denise Dogon, chief executive of Dogon Group Properties.

“This is the highest short-term rental Dogon Group Properties has achieved for a four-night stay. There seems to be a real positive energy and resurgence in holiday rentals this year with the rainfall bringing life back to our tourism sector. We are expecting a much better season than last year as the drought affected the rental market and tourists chose other destinations. They now seem to be returning for the upcoming season.”

What tourists who will be paying R1 million for just four nights of accommodation can expect: Denise Dogon, chief executive of Dogon Group Properties, says: “Usually the cost of any luxury villa would not come standard with the perks listed below. In most cases you would have to pay extra for these perks. Dogon can obviously arrange anything, but it all comes at an additional cost.”

For the one luxury property, the following perks are included:

  • Butler service.
  • Breakfast every day.
  • Beverages, including spirits and beer.
  • Afternoon tea, evening canapes and sunset cocktails.
  • High speed uncapped wireless internet.
  • Return airport shuttles.
  • Personalised service from senior guest relations managers.
  • Use of swimming pool, sauna and steam room.
  • Laundry service with returned clothing packed in tissue paper.
