The warm water of Muizenberg beach is about 2km from Marina Da Gama, top left, a paradise for surfers, bathers, and children. Along the beachfront are surf shops and surf schools, supertubes/water slides, as well as public swimming pools, and a putt-putt course.

Knead Bakery (021 788 2909), Primi Piatti (021 788 7130), and Tiger’s Milk (021 788 1869) are among the restaurants along the Muizenberg beachfront, for everything from a hearty breakfast to late night burgers and ribs.

3 Drink

Bluebird Garage market, also in Muizenberg, is a food and goods market that takes place on Friday evenings. The vibe and fresh artisan products, as well as the fact that it is child-friendly, make this a popular spot with locals, bottom left. 082 493 9055

5 Shopping
Within Marina Da Gama itself is the small Eastlake Centre, containing a laundry, as well as  other shops. 021 788 3311

6 Community
San Marina on Uitsig Peninsula in Marina Da Gama has a community hall which can be hired for private functions with a communal swimming pool, tennis courts, jungle gym for children, basketball court and braai facilities with picnic areas. The use of this communal space is encouraged and helps to create a sense of community and sharing among neighbours and residents. 083 457 0799.
