Places of interest and things to do in Constantia

1 Shopping

Constantia Village Shopping Centre has a huge Pick n Pay, a Woolworths and an Exclusive Books. Tasha’s is popular place. The Old Village is a short walk away; 021 794 5065. Another shopping centre at the former Ladies’ Mile waste site is being developed. 2 Eating out Foxcroft Restaurant and Bakery, centre left, opened last year and is so good it immediately won the Eat Out award for best new restaurant.

2 Eat Out

San Pellegrino Chef of the Year Scot Kirton, together with La Colombe (also in Constantia) pastry chef Glen Williams, have brought another fabulous eating place to the suburb. A new menu is being launched, and the winter lunch special on weekdays runs until August 31. 021 202 3304

I live in Constantia Hills, on the outskirts of Constantia, but right in the middle of the southern suburbs. I hike constantly and can get to most hiking trails around the mountain within 30 minutes on any weekend morning. I’ve been up Table Mountain 25 times this year alone.
For a good night out we go to the Jack Black
brewery in Diep River, which despite being in the middle of lots of factories, is a great place
to visit. As secretary of Skydive Robertson I frequently spend weekends in Robertson jumping out of planes. – Resident Graham

The Constantia Wine Route offers stunning wines and fabulous food. Groot Constantia remains to this day one of the most popular attractions in the city. Other farms in the valley are Buitenverwachting, Klein Constantia, Eagle’s Nest, Constantia Glen, bottom left, Uitsig and Steenberg. 083 679 4495.

The Bike Park at Constantia Uitsig consists of a meandering cross-country track stretching over 3.5km and is set amid indigenous vegetation. There is a dual slalom race track and the Bike Barn offers spectators a cosy hideout. For cyclists there is a pit stop with bike repair facilities. 081 833 4488.
