Tiffany - which markets itself as “an arbiter of taste and style” - was once a purveyor to the Russian imperial family.

Did Audrey Hepburn actually eat breakfast at Tiffany’s? The answer is no. There is no restaurant in this uppity store. Holly Golightly ate her breakfast bun while window shopping at Tiffany’s.

Tiffany’s does not sell coffee. Tiffany’s, you see, is rather posh.

Founded by Charles Lewis Tiffany and John B Young in Connecticut in 1837, Tiffany sells expensive and exclusive jewellery, sterling silver, china, crystal, stationery, fragrances, water bottles, watches, personal accessories and classy leather goods.

Tiffany – which markets itself as “an arbiter of taste and style” – was once a purveyor to the Russian imperial family.

Management must have done a lot of soul-searching before opening the store for the first time in its history on a Sunday in 1961 – and must have held their breath as hundreds of Hollywood film crew members, with ladders, cameras, lofty lights, microphones and tripods invaded their store for the filming of scenes for Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
