Meyersdal: A sound investment

Meyersdal to the south of Joburg offers a wide range of secure and premium properties and the demand for top amenities, developments and estates has helped to push up property prices

If you are in the market for a high-end property in the south of Joburg, then Meyersdal can be highly recommended for several reasons. 

The first is the area offers a wide range of secure and premium properties, making investment safe by virtue of location in a reputable neighbourhood where properties retain value, says Ryan Kwan of the Kwan Team at Law Real Estate. 

Second, the increase in demand for top amenities, developments and estates, as the area grows, has helped to push up property prices.

Kwan recommends Meyersdal as an area in which to invest in high-end, or luxury, property.

He says Meyersdal Eco Estate is one of the most popular areas of investment for luxury home buyers.

“It is definitely the first choice for most high-end buyers looking to purchase in the luxury market,” says Kwan. 

“I have sold many properties in this estate for more than R10 million. All the record-breaking sales for the south of Joburg are achieved in this estate.”

Kwan says they achieved record sales in Meyersdal last year and in the first quarter of this year.

“Meyersdal property prices are definitely on the rise, with stable growth over the past few years.”

Kwan observes it as an ideal time to upgrade one’s primary residence in Meyersdal, as many families and clients are upgrading or buying. Both activities are seen to be feeding into the cycle of appreciating prices.

He attributes the rise in property activity to an improving economic climate and to the fact that Meyersdal offers extremely good value for money. He says some clients are finding incredible buys.

As well as security of investment, Meyersdal is conveniently situated a short distance to the south of Joburg.

“Many clients choose Meyersdal because of its proximity to the Joburg CBD. It is only 12km from the CBD with easy access to local highways and freeways,” says Kwan. 

This convenience covers excellent facilities, including Meyersdal Mall and Meyersdal Square offering great shopping and specialist services, gyms, beauty salons and pharmacies, to mention a few.

He says its offering of a mixed development of properties increases its popularity with families – from sectional title townhouses or cluster homes to huge mansions in the free-standing market as well as boomed-off and secure areas, and the luxury property market in the high-end estates such as Meyersdal Nature Estate and Meyersdal Eco Estate.

The suburbs that most resemble Meyersdal are Bassonia and Alberante, according to Kwan.
