Lower gear for Brando scooter

A 1976 scooter illegally driven on UK roads by movie star Marlon Brando fetched £2700 (over R51000) at an auction by H&H Classics in the UK on November 2 - with the final bid below the presale estimate of £3000.

The Piaggio Vespa 125 TS scooter (pictured) was bought in Rome by Brando’s friend, the film producer Elliott Kastner, and brought to the UK by Kastner. Brando drove the unlicensed scooter as a “fun run-around” when visiting Kastner.

The scooter, with its original Roman number plate, was in its original unrestored condition.
