Ideally sited Western Cape farms for sale

Two properties are in the Swartland, while the third is near Yzerfontein on the West Coast

Three farms in prime
locations in the Western Cape
– two in Malmesbury in the
Swartland, an area known
for the growing of grains and
vines, and one in Yzerfontein
on the West Coast – are to
be sold on auction by BKB
Properties this month. 
Willie van Rensburg of BKB
Properties believes that all
three farms “present unique
investment opportunities”.
Their excellent locations
and proximity to central Cape
Town make them especially
attractive. 
“Malmesbury lies about
65km north of Cape Town
and is a bustling little town of
close to 40 000 residents. It is
surrounded by farmland,” says
Van Rensburg. 
“Yzerfontein lies further
north, about 90km from Cape
Town. It is a small harbour
town with lots of passing
traffic coming through on the
West Coast Road.” 
Wine farm 
Glenrosa, one of the
Malmesbury properties to be
auctioned, is an excellent wine
farm with 345.90ha of dryland
vines, featuring a number
of different cultivars, in full
production. 
The farm comprises three
portions, with a total extent of
374.75ha.
Van Rensburg says the farm
will be sold as a going concern,
including the harvest and
necessary implements. 
The improvements on the
property include a spacious
store with a flat; a grapeloading
ramp and a neat sheep
kraal.
The property gets its
water from a borehole and the
Voëlvlei dam. 
Wheat and stock 
The second Malmesbury
farm to go under the hammer
is Highlands, an excellent
wheat and stock farm with
good infrastructure, he says.
The property measures
304.1015ha in total, with shiraz
vines covering about three
hectares. 
“There are two dwellings
and two stores on the
property, as well as additional
storerooms and stables. The
buildings are currently rented
out to Power Construction.” 
He says this farm, too, will
be sold as a going concern,
including the necessary
implements. 
Yzerfontein 
The Yzerfontein farm
covers 61.6861ha. Van Rensburg
believes that the property
offers “an outstanding
development opportunity
owing to its position on the
West Coast Road”. 
Consent use was granted
for a farm stall and liquor
sales, but this has lapsed
and an application would
have to be resubmitted to the
municipality.
Van Rensburg says potential
buyers should note that this
property will not be sold as a
going concern.
Game fencing is in place on
the farm.
