Well-known family getaway with potential to expand offers mixed accommodation from caravan sites to luxury furnished log chalets

In2Assets will auction one of the most popular South Coast holiday resorts at its next multi-property sale at the Durban Country Club on July 24 at 11am. On offer will be Villa Spa Holiday Resort in Illovo Beach, a popular family getaway for more than three decades.

Luke Hearn, who is handling the auction for In2Assets, says the camping and caravan sites are on level terrain and remain, as such, undeveloped. “There is huge potential for the expansion of the resort by adding further – more lucrative – chalets or park homes on these sites. With increased marketing of the resort for conferencing, weddings and corporate functions, more guests are likely to stay overnight or for weekends.”

He says with the densely populated Amanzimtoti, Warner Beach, Winklespruit and Illovo Beach areas’ permanent and holiday residents as future client base, the restaurant also can become a sizeable source of income.

Illovo Beach, 37km south of Durban, is a sought-after holiday destination because of its stretch of unspoilt beaches set between two scenic rivers as well as various golf courses and entertainment centres nearby. The area is popular with families wanting to live outside the city buzz and with retirees who enjoy the outdoors.

Netcare Kingsway Hospital, Galleria Regional Mall, Arbour Crossing Value Mall, and Makro Amanzimtoti are about 16km away and the popular Aliwal Shoal dive 10km to the south.
