The increased adoption of smart technologies and the remote working trend, that has been accelerated by Covid-19, has led more South Africans to realise the importance of upgrading their current home-tech solutions.
Richard Gray, chief executive of Harcourts South Africa, says a smarthome set-up sees the internet connecting all devices and appliances, giving residents remote-control access over everything inside their homes via their phones or other networked devices.
“With just the touch of a button, people can now command every device in their homes, from anywhere in the world. Taking into consideration that the Covid-19 pandemic has caused people to rely more heavily on technology, we are likely to see more and more South Africans embracing an automated home solution.”
He adds: “With the growing desire among consumers for convenience, connectivity, and security prompting additional market growth, we could be entering an era where most residential properties in the country have smart home technologies.”
