Just add cows to milk profits from dairy farm bordered by Mooi River

A “profitable” dairy farm with 5km of the Mooi River as its border is to be auctioned by Van’s Auctioneers on Wednesday at 11am.
Riverside Dairy Farm is home to more than 1 000 Holstein and Jersey cows, but the livestock is not included in the sale.

The 532 hectare farm is to be sold as a going conern. The milking system on site is a 39-point “swing over” with bulk
tank capacity of more than 26 000 litres. The dairy comprises bulk tank rooms with tiled flooring, office areas and ablutions.
The farm has irrigated, arable land with about 177ha under pivot irrigation; the three pivots are 10,
eight and four-tower units. Arable land covers 120ha and grazing areas 165ha.
Officially the remaining part of “Farm Sutherland’s Vale 1835”, it has a large 200 000m cubic metre water reservoir. The Department of Water Affairs has registered the use of 700 000 cubic metres of irrigation water (validation and verification in progress) and the Big Mooi River Irrigation Board has registered the use of 480 000 cubic metres of water.
Improvements on site include:
Four-bedroom homestead.
Garage.
Office.
Manager’s house and cottage.  Workshop and fertiliser shed.
Sheds and pens.
Generator room.
Staff housing.
The farm, rented out monthly, provides an annual income of about R960 000 to the owner.
