Western Cape areas attracting city folk include the Winelands, the West Coast, Hermanus and the Garden Route, including Knysna and Plettenberg Bay. 

Other cities with second-tier status include Nelspruit, Kimberley, Rustenburg, Bloemfontein and Polokwane. Statistics from Lightstone show these areas have:
