Agents taking part in the FNB Estate Agent Survey indicated a strong semigration pull in the direction of Cape Town, says Just Property’s Pieter Janse van Rensburg.
Semigrants to the city usually include a significant number of retirees, but the biggest portion still comes for work.
Greeff’s Dean Gabriels says corporate clients choose to live in central Cape Town for proximity and exposure to the area’s amenities, while young corporates and businesspeople want the vibe and international appeal the city offers.
Janse van Rensburg says the FNB survey data shows Cape Town has the least number of people selling to relocate to other regions.
“It estimates only 5% of Cape Town sellers selling to relocate. he next nearest city is Joburg, with 10%,” he says
