“Antiques are displayed in most of the reception areas, bringing the charm of a bygone era into a contemporary environment.”

Riebeek Valley Hotel, a country retreat with sweeping views of picturesque vineyards, olive groves and the Kasteelberg mountains, will go on auction on April 25.

“The hotel encapsulates old-world charm in a peaceful setting,” says Tanya Jovanovski, franchisee of Rawson Auctions Western Cape.

“Antiques are displayed in most of the reception areas, bringing the charm of a bygone era into a contemporary environment.”

Located in Riebeek West, just 50 minutes’ drive from Cape Town, the four-star hotel is close to several award-winning historical wine estates.

The property, which has a total area of 11343m2, includes 27 rooms, a restaurant, boardroom, two conference rooms and a dining room.

The facilities make it an ideal location for weddings, special events and large functions, says Jovanovski.

The main conference centre, which can seat up to 100 people, has its own kitchen and an outdoor entertainment area with a pool and braai spot. The smaller conference room seats 50 people and has an indoor pool.

The hotel’s rooms are individually decorated. There are six suites, 16 superior rooms and five standard rooms.

The Bishops Restaurant & Bar seats 60 people.

Jovanovski believes the building’s architectural style and decor, and the lush gardens and surrounding vineyards, make this property an excellent investment.

The property will be auctioned in Rondebosch at noon on April 25. The reserve price is R22million, but all offers will be considered. The seller is registered for VAT so transfer duty will not be payable.

No registration fee is required to bid. However, the buyer will be expected to pay a deposit of 5% of the purchase price, as well as 10% commission plus VAT over and above the purchase price on the seller’s acceptance of the bid.

Bidders must be registered and must have with them certified copies of their identity documents and proof of residence.

All offers should be submitted on Rawson Auctions’ offer to purchase form, with its standard terms and conditions, a copy of which can be obtained by contacting the Rawson Auctions Western Cape office on info@rawsonauctions.com or calling 0218371700.

Bids may be delivered to the Rawson Property Group’s head office at 222 Main Road, Rondebosch.

For more details or to book an appointment to view the property, call Tanya Jovanovski on 0218371700 or 0824119599.
