The Independent HOME Property Summit & Expo in Durban in September is set to be a premier event for all stakeholders
Players from all sectors of the property industry will converge on Durban later this month for what is set to become the industry’s premier one-stop networking and business showcase.
The key objective of the Independent HOME Property Summit & Expo – to be held at the Durban International Convention Centre on September 28 and 29 – is to establish a platform where stakeholders can connect, build brand awareness and gain insight into the challenges and developments affecting the real estate industry.
Greg le Roux, group executive of Independent Media Events, says: “The summit’s goal is to foster a positive environment for collaboration and change between a spectrum of stakeholders. This will lead to development and investment. The event will have representation from every sector of the industry, including realtors, developers, investors, key policy makers, industry experts and analysts and specialist IT professionals.”
He says with the support and participation of the government, corporate and private sectors he believes the HOME Property Summit will become southern Africa’s foremost annual real estate convention, “inspiring development and forging new partnerships across the region”.
The programme will feature keynote speakers on a range of topics from local market forecasts and the impact of technology to transformation initiatives and the increasing importance of green building.
Speakers will include Erwin Rode, chairman and chief executive of Rode Property Consultants, who will present a long-term view of the property market; Vuyiswa Mutshekwane, chief executive of the SA Institute of Black Property Practitioners, who will talk about transformation requirements in the sector; and FNB property analyst John Loos.
Home buyers and investors will be interested in a presentation by the Estate Agents Advisory Board in which members will unpack amendments to property laws and the legal reviews covering property-related matters.
Warren Brewis, chief executive of IMS Property, says: “As the most comprehensive weekly property publication in KwaZulu-Natal, the Independent Home Magazine is proud to be part of an event that facilitates the thoughts, plans and projects that will affect the property industry, not only in KZN, but the whole of South Africa in the years to come.”
In addition to the conference, Independent HOME is also hosting a three-day expo within the popular Essence festival from September 29 to October 1.
An expected 60 000 visitors will be spoilt for choice as the festival includes music and entertainment, lifestyle and wellness, a tech zone, arts and books – all free of charge.
