The magnificent Bona Dea Private Estate in Hermanus will soon fall under the ClareMart Auction Group’s hammer, at the instruction of the trustees.

The event promises to be one of the highlights of the 2017 auction calendar, says Andrew Koch, ClareMart’s general executive director. The estate – which offers exclusivity, space and natural beauty – is in the Hemel and Aarde Valley. 

“It was once said of this area that the hills, which closely embrace the valley all around, are so high they seem to touch the sky and you cannot see anything but heaven and earth – hence the name,” says Koch. 

Divided into distinct spaces, all with their own aesthetic appeal, the estate occupies 27.402ha and has an Agricultural 1 zoning. The property includes Dendrobium House, a five-star conference centre. 

The luxurious venue was the recent winner of the TWA Vendor Wedding Awards “Top Country Wedding Venue”. The Cape Dutch-style twostorey functions venue can accommodate 160 guests and its flexible infrastructure means there are few limitations on the events that can be hosted there, says Koch. 

“From the entrance hall to the air-conditioned banqueting hall, from the cocktail lounges to the open-plan balconies, the venue can be transformed to meet the requirements on each client’s wishlist.” 

Also on the estate is Cynaroides House, a luxury home surrounded by the natural beauty of hills and dales.
