An iconic Art Deco building in the heart of the CBD which was sold for R37 million is being refurbished.
Situated on the corner of Hout and Long streets, 50 on Long Street comprises a gross lettable area of 3 075m² with ground-floor retail, six storeys of commercial office space and a penthouse apartment.
Tenants are able to customise the office space to their business requirements.
When complete, the building will include 24-hour security, a standby generator, CCTV and access control, and will be fibre-optic ready.
Lyall Johnson, the Annenberg Property Group broker who concluded the sale, said 50 on Long Street, a heritage building, had been acquired by a Cape Town-based investor.
All internal areas are being refurbished to AAA grade standard, including common and office areas, lifts and air-conditioning, and a new reception will front on to Long Street.
Finishes include timber, stone and panelling detail in the reception, and black steel cottage pane shopfronts on office levels.
The refurbishment is due to be completed next month.
