Pop the lid off the paint tin without any elbow grease

If you have paint in old or new metal tins, you can try this (thanks to reader Bob).

To ensure your paint
can be stored much longer without the paint thickening, smear Vaseline (butter or cooking oil will also work) around the rim
and lid as soon as you open the tin.
Not only will the tin open again smoothly, the grease will form a seal
and prevent the paint drying out. I am not sure if it would also work with plastic tins but it is probably worth a try.
